His track record as a turn-around manager, mergers & acquisition specialist and business planner are rooted in his experiences at Covad Communications and with The Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Tolbert has created value through a focus on delivering clear, measurable results that positively impact financial performance.
Three Sticks Management Group’s advisory services leverages a clear process refined by Mr. Tolbert as he served companies such as AT&T, GlaxoSmithKline, the Southern Company, Knight-Ridder and International Paper. The process involves hands-on assessment of the situation, creation of a strong plan to resolve issues, and disciplined execution to achieve optimal results. His experience, directly leading technical organizations, delivering enterprise level initiatives, and managing the entire lifecycle of products, allows him to move quickly to create positive change.
As a deal maker and leader of corporate restructurings, Mr. Tolbert has participated in mergers and acquisition activities totaling more than $1 billion as well as restructurings in excess of $1 billion. Transactions have included stock and cash based private company acquisitions, 363 bankruptcy asset sales and strategic investments to bring new services to market. His extensive experience includes leading due diligence, deal negotiation, and post merger integration. The deal approach that Mr. Tolbert utilizes enables creative deal structures as needed and gets value to all stakeholders in an expeditious manner.
Mr. Tolbert received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from Harvard University. He has spoken at Distressed Investing conferences across the country and currently serves on the Board of Directors for LifePoint, a non-profit organization focused on building life skills for families in need.
